Default Katie update...

Well, what can I say...

My bike is still sat in the dealership where they have allegidly 'fixed' it, but it still resonates like a b@stard

They are now trying to tell me that because the bike has been fixed, the resonation is now a 'characteristic' of the machine (& KTM UK have told them this...) Sounds utter bollox if you ask me...

I wrote my first letter of complaint on the 14th Dec 2005, in which I requested a new replacement for her as it had been off the road since the 12th Nov 2005 & they have now had 3 attempts at repairing her. The service manager replied to the letter on the 22nd Dec 2005, informing me that the bike still resonates, but was ready for collection Naturally I have rejected this & my second letter has been drafted...

I get the feeling this is going to turn into a very long and drawn out process

The bike is still less than 5 months old & has only done 1100 miles

Signed: Bikeless of Bedale

I think you're gong to have a legal battle on your hands mate... How can it be a "characteristic" of the bike if it didn't do it from new ?

A number of people are full of sh1te in my opinion...

(Moved to Bikes - Talk & Issues BTW)

Permission to suggest something, to try to get a resolution before Messrs Sue, Grabbit and Runne get (expensively) involved?

If this resonance is allegedly an inherent characteristic, ask them to demonstrate the same effects on another machine of similar age/condition.

It's either the same - in which case it IS a characteristic and you can at least sell the bike with a clear conscience (as it is obvious that you don't want it back) - or it ISN'T the same, in which case you've just won the argument.

If I were KTM's Service Manager, I know what I would be doing.....but I'm not, so good luck with it!

Cloggsy...You stick with it mate don't let them fob you off.I think with the forum's own Rumpole of The Old Bailey you should be ok.
The KTM people could continue to try to baffle you with BS as after all this model is completely new to them also and so they cannot really draw on opinion gained from experience can they?
From what I hear the bike has sold extremely well and they are probably kept busy with schedule maintenance issues and have perhaps not had many dealings with your particular problem. Having said that it does not appear right that you should be waved away nonchalantly.

Clive

try ringing the dealerships around the country and ask them "does the sm resonate "

try a few but dont give them too much info.

there is a guy rides hartside on one (but i fear it will be tucked away for the winter) if i do see him again i will enquire

keep at it mate. best of luck and all that
