Default Carb Problem?

Hi all, hope y'all had a good xmas =D

My SV is finally back on the road and running, but not running nice at low speeds and can cut out when I come to a stop cos the revs are so low.

Is there a possiblity the carbs have gone out of sync while they've been off the bike. Also my fuel mixture could be wrong as I've got my K&N in now and its properly lubed (didn'y do that before) and with a viper could I be running lean.

At low speeds (say im holding at 30) the bike will sputter a bit and theres a lot of popping coming from the exhaust. I havn't had a chance to check anything yet, hoping to do that tomoz. Just looking for some ideas on what to check for and what to look at.

Thanks in advance all

Soundds like good old carb ising to me, try some Silkolene Por-FST in the tank, other than that its about letting the engine heat get around the carbs so they are warm before you start, then staopping and letting them re-warm from the engine heat each time they freeze

Yep, probably carb icing, just endured a ride home in sub zero temperatures having to have the choke out for most of the journey to keep the engine running. Rough as hell. Not fun.

Running lean probably not helping, if you've got a normal filter try that as a first option, and check the connections to the carb heaters if your bike has them (they're rubbish, but it might make a bit of difference).

Just out of interest, do any of you fuel injection bike people have this problem? Icing on the throttle bodies/air inlets?

Best of luck,

MT
