Default reccomend a webcam

I currently have a creative labs notebook webcam - it wasn't cheap but its absolute ****! You need studio level lighting to get a near acceptable picture from it, and thats still nowhere near the quality from some of my friends.

Looking at whats available from PC world collect at store, the following look suitable from the spec given, Philips spc 300 and 700nc, Logitech communicate STX.

Any comments on the above, or other suggestions? ( need something that will give a nice clear picture with normal to low indoor lighting )

Funnily enough I am just playing with the Logitech one you list there.

Standard settings

In dark (just screens illuminating me)

In light

I changed the save to best here, so probably more like what it looks like other end.

Anyway hope that helps lighting wise, I'm sure it looks better in dark with a better save quality.

I also have a Logitech one that follows you around the room on order for home but it hasnt arrived yet.

Thats just superb - the creative notebook at its' best is only as good as your dark pictures.

So thats the LOGITECH - QUICKCAM COMMUNICATE STX WEB CAMERA
pc world item code 806864?

Does it also work at 640/480 webcam mode too?

I have heard of the 'follow you round' one you mention, not sure if it physically moves or if it is just an intelligent zoom

If it's the Orbit, it really moves. It pans it's head and tilts the lens assembly, motor assisted. Quite nice, and the picture quality is good.
