Had the bike in for a service last week.

All went well and I happily road bike home in crappy weather.

Weather brightens up so duly start to give her a good clean to get rid of all the salt...............

..................and panic sets in. Oil is right at the top of the sighting glass. I was sure that I saw some posts about how overfilling could cause damage to the engine.

'How could the garage be so negligent' I cursed to myself.

Anyway its getting dark so I take the bike off its paddock stand, put her to bed and go in the house. Halfway through the evening it sinks in.

So to try and help any other lads and lassies avoid a similar 'd'oh' moment please remember to not look at the oil level if you have the rear wheel raised on a paddock stand. :P

Now you know the oil level is correct why not put it back on the paddock stand and make another mark making it much easier to check the oil. Saves that stupid balancing act. On my old GS500E it was done whilst on the centre stand, much easier
