Can't wait !
Hope it does not snow . A quick question as never had a new bike before. When I first start bike at 0 miles , is it best to let it idle for a couple of mins or ride straight off ? Also how critical is keeping to under 5k for the first 500 miles? I guess the critical miles are the first 20 ? Cheers ![]() |

hey dude!
glad to hear you getting a new sv! coolest bike i ever owned! from start id recomend you let it warm! well best to let it warm every time u start it from cold actually! and yes keep to the running in process...if your patient enough!!! lol i tried...then thought "its warm...cant do any harm" and preceeded to take it over the specified limit for running in! 40,000 miles later....still going strong!!! just be sencible! get it warm...load the engine every now and then...this helps bed in all the parts...but dont be too carefull....metal expands and stretches so ull want all the parts to wear evenly through the barrels etc.... so id recomend warm it up...then use it as a bike is meant to be used! |

running in is a pain in the ****! ride miles and get it done in a week or two!
the bike is so much better after the first 600 mile service. |

Don't have it sitting around on the side stand idling. Just get on it and ride it. No need to use more than a few thousand rpm and once its warmed up to 80 odd degrees just use the maximum five krpm that you are allowed. You wanna be accelerating up through the gears then slowing down again and repeating the process as per the book.
It won't have 0 miles because the dealer should have done a short test ride to make sure everything is ok. I went up to 6krpm a few times prior to the first service and it never did no harm. Bike doesn't burn any oil. A lot of people rant the nuts of it from day one and their bikes are fine so don't worry about going a thousand rpm over. |
