Powdercoating or painting work well.

For stanchions then I think a nitride coating is the only realistic option. titanium aluminium nitride is a blue-black. I think titanium nitride is the type used on "gold" forks.

You've got that the wrong way round I think, the stanchions are the tubes and the sliders are the lowers.

Anyhoo. I'd get them powdercoated. In fact, I did. Lovely finish, very tough... It does mean totally strippign the forks down into bits.

Probably, knowing me.
I also just noticed that I didn't read the post properly. Oh well, that'll teach me for trying to do 5 things at once.

yeah, i know the difference and i do mean sliders, i have just brough some in the for sale section and then i can spend a day swapping them over and putting in new oil ect.
Powder coating it is - how much did it cost? and how much prep do i need to do first

Cost me £20 the pair in gloss black... I used BBS in Edinburghm, who basically charge more the scabbier they are, so I gave them a serious clean and degrease beforehand.

That was a top quality finish At one point BBS had more of their work in Streetfighters than Spondon But you might want to consider different colours, SSS and Aerocoat do a black chrome which is absolutely stunning...
