Hi
I need to purchase a paddock stand for my SV650. Can I buy just any paddock stand or will only certain models suit the SV? Do you have to add anything to suite a particular bike for example? I don't want to spend a fortune I just want something that is functional and sturdy. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks Tim |

you might want to look at the NWS (www.n-w-s.com) one, the same type as the abba, but you don't need a bike specific kit, so can use it on any bike, cost about the same.
although you can use any standard rear paddock stand with the SV, I'd recommend at least hook and bobbins over cups, between £30-£55 for the rear, but remember you're only getting a rear stand and you can't work on the suspension with this type. Cheers Mark.

try and borrow one from either of those two nice gentlemen who live near you
![]() I got a pair (front & rear) of Motrax stands cheap at the Ally Palace bike show, and they work very well with just the rubber pads/cups, although I'm buying the hooks for the rear as I want to run my Scottoiler tube along the bottom of the sidestand, and it would get squashed otherwise. Just remember to be careful when lifting it as it's very easy to overbalance the bike when it's on the sidestand. |

Where in Waterlooville are you... I can also recomend the Micron stand.. nice and simple, though can be a 'little' bit more worrying to get on to the bike then the Abba.

I've got some cheapo ones second hand. Probably £20 for the pair (F&R). They ain't pretty but they work perfectly well for what I need em for. |

ABBA were discounting for forum members, do a search for ABBA and see what comes up
![]() But for simple work it's overkill. Wonderful toys, and mine's paid for itself a dozen timse over, but if you want it for cleaning the chain etc it's a bit of a waste IMO. Frankly I'd say buy the cheapest one you can find for that ![]() I don' see much point in the front stands, unless it's one that lifts under the yoke- very limiting, and not cheap for decent ones. Better to spend a bit more for an ABBA/NWS (NWS have just changed their name, BTW, can't remember what to)

I've got the Harris Racing one for about £69.99 from M&P Direct. Coupled with the swingarm bobbins it's as sturdy as a rock. I've used those otherone's but they were not that great as after a while the plastic tends to crack/break. I think it was the cheapy Micron one's that were no good.
