Was on the M11 as usual doing a "reasonable" speed and saw this the black object come from my left and **** me on the lid.....it was like someone had swung a shovel in my face full force.....was couching and spitting out feathers for the next few miles!......brains are still spinning in my head even now!
Anyone else had this happen? |

Yup
Got a sky rat, blood & feathers all over my lid/visor. Just glad it wasn't a pheasant as that would have taken my head off

I got a smack on the arm from a small bird, feathered type, whilst also doing a "resonable" speed. Felt Like I'd been shot, stung like a Bee-iach and had a sizable bruise for a while!!!!

Had a close shave with one.. thankfully saw it coming and ducked, it went over my head.
However i once got hit my a cocshaf (sp), small fly like insect covered in a hard shell.. bout the size of a large bee. I hit it at about 140mph i thought something on my bike had blown up - the BANG was so loud i almost touched cloth. Pulled up, flipped my lid and started checking my bike. Then my mate asked what the green smear was on my helmet.. holy cow - there it was, smeared all over it.. There was an article in a bike magazine about them approx 12 months ago.. it certainly made one hell of a CRACk when it hit my helmet. |

I've had a few close calls with animals in general.
I've had pigeons fly across my path then decide that the best way to avoid the bike doing 70mph is to change directions and fly directly in front of me. Just as would have touched it's tail it dived off to the side. I've had deer dive into the road then suddenly gain common sense and dive straight back over the fence. I've had mares literally go for me (while going past slowly with the clutch in, might I add) I've had pheasants pretend they were pedestrians in Soho and cover just about every point in the road within a few seconds. Luckily I no longer swerve for pheasants. I've even had a flock of seagulls try to attack me while I was on my way to Ally Pally. None of these beat the time in France when a large bird of prey decided that Topcat's helmet was a furry treat. |

Kestrel flew out of a hedge and hit the near side crankcase, I was doing about 50 - bird was killed instantly and then the back wheel went over it, skated a bit but my excellent riding skills saved a serious slide
