Default --FITTING GUIDE HERE-- Oxford HotGrips K3> PDF format

WARNING- IMAGE HEAVY (1Mb) DIAL-UP USERS BEWARE

Well I finally wrote up the (13 Page, photographic) installation guide for the Oxford Heated Grips on a pointy. I fitted the grips and did the tidying up over a couple of days whilst it was raining etc. If you've got a set, you'll know just how excellent these things are . If not and were thinking about them either now or for the arrival of Autumn ( in about 6 weeks!) - here is a specific fitting guide for pointy SVs.

********************EDIT************************** ***

Comments are welcome, but in the mean time, thanks to Cloggsy for creating the PDF version - ADOBE Acrobat Reader required to view.

Save the document if prompted after clicking the link below.

Fitting OXFORD HotGrips to the K3 onwards - Around 1Mb in size

Cheers,
Garry

Well folks,

I really gave the grips a work out today - the SVecosse crew went on a rather nice RideOut and encountered heavy snow. It had been chilly for quite a bit already and so the grips were put into use. They never went above half power the whole day and my hands were toasty!

Recommended purchase.......

Just need to sort out the winter boots, my vented summer Oxtars are bloody freezing even with two pairs of socks.

Cheers,
Garry

Just a quick note for dial up users thinking about downloading the guide. It's MUCH smaller now that it has been reposted in PDF format. That and the fact that it contains LARGE photos showing exactly where everything is over a full 13 pages of A4 paper makes it worth the download time.

Thats a pretty good guide there, lots of pictures and some great details like showing where the wire goes and good write up on what you did. Tis a good job that document

Nice document, should help many out, well done.

I have a curvy and fitted the Oxford grips to that. For those with a curvy the installation is pretty much identical apart from the switched live feed bit.

The curvys fuzebox is below the riders seat. I took my switched live by piggybacking off the orange wire with yellow trace that comes out of the fuzebox. You might be able to make a connection in the same manner as has been done in this pointy write-up, and something I didn’t think about/look at the time I fitted mine. Anyhow, piggybacking the Orange/Yellow wire is how I did mine and the grips have been in use now for about 3 months with no problems so if you are unsure about the fuzebox bit, then this piggyback appears to work fine.

So now all SV owners have no excuses not to have warm hands

I guess being out in the snow is the ultimate test, but do the grips keep your whole hands warm, even the tips of your fingers? I do have some dedicated winter gloves, so will be using those with the heated grips.
