Default Bike gear cheaper in France?

Off to france this weekend in the car, in the market for a new helmet, usually anywhere is cheaper than the UK. Can't find any french bike shops with gear prices online though, not sure if Shoei/Arai etc will be any cheaper there?

Stuff is definitely cheaper here in Belgium than UK (Hein Gericke prices as comparison), so would imagine france to be similar. Just look up a few shop addresses and see what you can find.

NO! Even Shark helmets (French made) are cheaper in the UK! Don't be fooled by "Rip Off Britain" stories, some things are still cheaper in good old Blighty!

If you were going to the US of A then that is a different matter....................

Thanks for that, might drop in to a shop if I see one so but won't go out of my way. Couldn't find any prices on French websites, their Hein Gericke site is even worse than the UK one (ie "come back later") and none of the others had prices.

Will go in to Decathlon to get a cheap rucksack though, best sport shop I've ever been to!

I quite agree, the prices are unbelievable.

We were in Belgium last weekend, hubby's VFR battery was knackered, so we had to go find a new one, we ended up in Hein Gericke, Oostend.

His very cheap battery, fitted at about £50 got very expensive coz, I got a lovely set of HG ladies leathers for under £120 !! Price over here well over £350, so I did save him some money

I agree prices much cheaper over the water (or under) if you happen to go by tunnel.

We where over in Belgium last November and we just "happened" to find the Hein Gericke in Ostende, but the damn place was closed - it was a Monday.

Forget bringing back fags, booze or whatever, WASHING POWDER is what you want! Persil is like half the cheapest UK prices in France.

Got a mate lives near the tunnel, he times it right so he can pop over for a tenner, fill car with petrol, have a nice dinner and hits the hypermarket. He brings back washing powder, dishwasher tablets, engine oil and the odd case of wine. Also taps and bathroom fittings are a fraction or UK price too.
