clutch problems...
Hey all, it's been a while since I last posted but here goes...
Ok I'll try and keep this short & sweet, I had a slipping clutch recently, so decided to replace the plates, this seemed to remedy the problem as far as "normal" riding is concerned, but last night when I had to give it a bit of a handfull it started slipping again - so, it seems ok under normal acceleration etc.. but not hard acceleration... could the springs need changing also? any ideas? anyone?  ta!! |

did you drain the plates in engine oil befor mounting them? I've read this is realy nessecary (how do you write this word
)harder springs will help, though... |

Sounds like you need to make friends with the clutch lifter adjuster. This is under the front sprocket cover, or round there, where the cable goes in. Adjustment is in the manual, basically it's a screw so when the cable pulls it turns, screws in, pushes the pushrod through to the clutch, and lifts the clutch centre. Take out all the cable tension, slacken the locknut of the adjuster screw, wind it in till it touches the end of the pushrod, then back it off a quarter of a turn. Hold it and tighten the locknut. You should then be able to pull the cable and feel just a little slack before the pushrod starts being pressed. Put back together and adjust up. If the adjuster screw is too tight then you'll never get full compression on the clutch springs on the plate, and in the higher gears with a big handfull it'll slip.
Or if you've done all that, you've not used something other than just m/c oil in the engine have you? |
