Default 020 cooking up?

I've been running an020 on teh back for a little while- that's what's on my spare rear wheel- and I've been quietly impressed. Not quite as good as the Roadtecs, but better than an older tyre would be expected to do. But today I went for a slightly longer hard rider than I usually would, and towards the end I found the grip on the power while leaned fell off really badly... Things were still absolutely fine in the bends, I doubt I'm close to the tyre's limits, but exiting corners with even fairly mild power was causing it to spin up. The bend that it was most noticable on, I've taken hundreds of times in various conditions, and it's never done that before, but it was noticable on other bends...

Is this typical 020 behaviour? The tyre surface was a bit grainy afterwards, but it wasn't melted or torn up, or anything similiarly troublesome. Pressure is 36psi.

I have the same thing happen to me a fair bit. I just assumed it was the tyre getting a bit old and hardened, and I should look at new tyres. Even the front will slide out a bit if I act the maggot.

Likewise, I still have thread, despite my harsh braking and general abuse of the tyre, but the rubber has just gone past its prime.

Yep, it might well be an old tyre here as well... It came with the wheel, but it's not heavily used. It had obviously only ever gone in a straight line though
