Default Ride, good practice and tips.

Hello all, I'm organising a ride out in the Ecosse group. As this will be my first time organising such a thing and that there will be other newbies coming along, is there any advice, tips, things to bring or good practice/behaviour that we would benefit from knowing.

Anything from common practice to unrwitten rules that i as a newdbie woudl not know about. Any tips around organising the run like counting people in and out at scheduled stops. Do people bring bike to bike comms units.

What are the basic norms, the usefill tips and good ideas that you've experienced on ride outs?

More importantly, what are the common mistikes, schoolboy errors and dangerous pitfalls, that people who have never been ridding in a group need to be warry of?

Ta.

1) Introduce yourself to everyone so that they know you are the front rider
2) Have a back marker and make them known so that no one gets left behind
3) Always keep the rider behind in your mirrors, if they are not there, wait visably at the next junction.
4) Its not a race
5) Make sure that all are aware of the route, and have maps/directions if neccassary
6) Keep the route fun but simple (Not to many fiddly junctions/turnings etc
7) Have a couple of stops between start n finish to allow the group to reform
Have fun
9) Try to make the route a there and back type affair.

its an ecosse rideout. maps given out at start of ride are always a good idea, someone always gets lost (i wont be there but its usually me). lots of stops (fag break but dont think blueflame or careless will be there this time). most of our rideouts are not particularly organised but any improvement is a good one. hope you guys have a great day. just relax and have fun. ride for yourself and dont push yourself thats when accidents happen. swap numbers are beginning of ride. introduce everyone. and have a great day.
