Has anyone managed to get an unsecured loan from the net? I applied to Wentworth Direct and got accepted but have since done some research on them and found out they seem to be con artists. Having been off work for some time now I'm getting desperate. Any Ideas?

hang on you say you have a bad credit rating, and then want a loan.

Bad credit history AND been out of work for some time???

Unfortunately, 'con artists' are going to be your only option, as you will be considered as very high risk therefore most reputable lenders will not touch you..

Sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear.

If anyone has even thought about these guys then DON'T.......YES LOANS!

Rip off merchants!

They offered us £5000 payable over 5 years @ £130 a month. You have to pay £50 fee before hand but what they fail to tell you is........

they're only brokers and can't get you a loan because you have bad credit!!

We wasn't conned but we did think about it.... for about 10 seconds!

My advice Jester is just ride it out if you can. Try and get yourself back to work (if that's possible) or contact a debt management firm and they'll get your interest rates stopped some can even get your debt reduced.

HTH!!

OK, first off, why are you desparate for money?

What I mean is, do you need it or want it.

Need means things like basic food, bills & rent. Pretty much everything else is a 'want' - and can therefore wait until you have saved it perhaps.

Taking out a loan for money to live on is a very bad idea, only likely to cause you more problems in the longer term, won't help any debt management and is never really the answer.

Again, if it's money to live on, how long have you been out of work and why?

Have you looked into what benefits are available to help you keep your head above water whilst looking for a job.

If you're out of work due to ill health, again, there are some benefits out there - hard to qualify for but they are there.

Otherwise, what have you got that you don't need - sell it.

Do you have any skills or talent that you could turn into a short term earner? You never know until you try.

As BabyJ says, it's best to try to ride it out if you can and try everything possible rather than get into or further into debt.

Oh yeah, feel free to PM details if you'd rather not post them publically. I've been managing (just) for the past 6 months off work through ill health and am more than happy to pass on any advice I can.

With no income, it's going to be tricky. I think you're going to be pretty much stuck with ripoff merchants...Credit history's unlikely to come into it, most high street banks and reputable internet banks just won't touch you without a wage coming in. A very small loan, yeah, maybe.

If I was in that position, I'd google every company I considered using and see what comes back- there's loads of reviews and comparisons out there, I'd pay more attention to mainstream newspapers, Which and Moneyfacts.
