Default speed sensor

Had new front tire put on by local shop, on way home noticed speedo stopped working! The sensor seems to be installed corectly, looking from outside without pulling apart.
I'm wondering if the mechanic could have damaged the wiring when changing tire?
Anyone else had a similar experience or condition?
Thanks, Tim

Yep its quite common for garages to damage the speedo sensor when changing a front tyre. I've been through two now because of this.

There's a wee bit that turns in the sensor housing, it could be that bit that's broken...

... go back and kick 'em in the balls until they pay for it to be fixed!!!!

(this is the view of me, so there!!!)

when my speedo stopped working I left it for a while then it worked again for a bit then stopped again. I eventually got round to taking wheel off and removing speedo & found that the 4no. 'ears' on the rotor were all broken off. However they were all still in the speedo hub (they are magnetic). I toof them out together with the rotor & found they all went back together with no missing bits so glued them with super glue. Its worked ever since & i've done sevral 1000 miles on it since.
It might be a temporary fix until you can get the thing renewed

took bike back to mechanic who changed tires and low and behold 3 of the four lugs on the sensor are gone! Ordered replacement part, I think assembly was wrong and this damaged the part. We'll see if he takes responsibility for damage.
