Default Competion for the SV ?

Ayone seen the new Kwacker 'Versys' 650 on the front page of this weeks MCN ? Directly aimed at potential SV buyers.
Appears to have lots of new upto date features & looks great. This bike will sell and for £5500 Suzuki had better sort their quality control or theyu ownt be selling many more SV's.
For 5 1/2 K There's loads of competetion out there which is great for us consumers

I don't think it's in quite the same space as the SV, more the DL.

not when the SV sells at over a grand cheaper I think not.

I wondered who bought More Crap than News to keep them in business as I refuse to these days. I dont trust anything they write tbh. I believe whichever manufacturer places most advertising gets the best reviews.

A case in point is their chain test - I was reading on visordown a guy who tests chain strength basically being unable to replicate MCNs figures on attack times. It turns out to break the almax they seemingly applied other techniques not done to other chains and broke it on an anvil as it couldnt be broken on the bike. Hardly a good review when your tests arent consistent or that they dont mention how much more effort they had to go to break some chains.

Some interesting reading about MCN, testing and chains

And £5.5k "budget"??? I can buy a brand new CBF1000 for £400 more, £700 more gets me a new CBF1000 with ABS. The SV at about £4k is what I call a proper "budget" bike and I dont think the other bike will compete if it remains £1.5k more.

The Versys is absolutely not an SV competitor in any way, shape or form- that's the ER6, which was clearly built from the ground up to attack the SV. And it does it rather well, sells in a very similiar price range (can get an N for £3700, or an ABS model for £4400, while the F can be had for £3900 or ABS for £4700).
