Chain Lube Question - SV650.org

I'm sure this has been asked before, but how often do you guys lube your chains? I do it about every 200 or 300 miles.

I do it every week or so. Or just whenever I feel guilty that its so unclean.

I'm using putoline spray on stuff atm which seems to work quite well. Just give it a quick spray and leave it to do its job overnight.

i use a scottolier, but my brother just gives his a squirt of wd40 every day - he covers the whole bike in it before he goes out - engine, forks, frame, and chain is that bad? I followed him along our street last week and i thought his bike had caugh fire - but it was just the WD40 smoking as his engine and can got hot.

WD40 is too light for chain lube. I use it to clean and degrease my chain.

Got a scottoiler fitted now, but before that used to lube after every ride while the chain was still warm with a light lube.

I use automatic transmission fluid (dextron III) in my scottoiler

i apply alittle amount often to save it getting flung all over the bike.

A bit of spray lube after a long ride, or when I remember. I always check before going out that the chain doesn't look dry, seems to have worked fine so far as very little chain stretch.
