I don't live there but I work there a few times a month.

Bike roads? Some of the best, snake pass, woodhead and the A635 to Saddleworth.

Nice enough place, there are some dodgy estates like anywhere else but it seems all right.

I lived in Sheffield for 10 years.

Ecclesall road - 10 minutes from the centre in one direction, 10 minutes from the rolling countryside in the other direction.
I had a fantastic time there. The people were great (I met my wife there) and I would move back in a heart beat if truth be told.

Nightlife is top notch in both Barnsley and Sheffield. Good links to all the surrounding cities. Close to meadowhall

Avoid Kendray/Athersley/Ardsley (Barnsley villages) like the plague and you'll be alright. Plenty of pubs and clubs about, loads of sport centres. welcoming people. Crap football team
