Default Petrol leak

Before anyone says have a search - I have!

I'm interested in finding out if any of the suggestions worked and what was the outcome.

I now have a leak from somewhere - still to find where - to add to my long list of woes with my curvy..

Ta muchly in advance

Long list of woes?!??!?!?

I tell you she was PERFECT with me!! I'm now beginning to think I'm doing something wrong. The yzf750 I had before now needs a new engine, 2000 miles after I sold it. (No, that was just unfortunate really.......I hope)

What else needs doing and let me try and sort it. I feel responsible since you've hardly used her, even if she was fine(perfect) with me. I have an sv albeit a vert tired sv that I can rob bits from if you need some.

My only tip would be don't ride it. Petrol & hot engines isn't fun.

I beg to differ...

...it CAN be fun if its a clapped out vehicle, and/or a caravan is in close proximity...

...braniac style

The curvey tanks rust around the hinge area and around the fuel overflow area. If it is the former you may get lucky and be able to get it welded. If it is the latter, you are probably screwed....sorry. New tank (or ebay) is the only answer.

Default leaks

hi.
i had same prob leaking tank at bottom near hinge, you can buy a resin kit
you have to clean out tank then etch it with acid then coat with plastic liner, this worked ok but after acouple of months it developed another leak this time through the over flow pipe. this can be bunged up top and bottom with a metal filler like decon or plastic padding. but in the end you will have to replace the tank £260 quid from miles kingsport 5 week wait, enjoy.
ps have still got coated and filled tank excellent condition externally black of 99 model.

If the leak is under the tank where it cant be seen you can get some putty stuff from most motorfactors.

Mine developed a very slight leak- pinhole rusting at the bottom left, where water would gather if it got in the fuel. Probably as a result of when it was sat efore I got it, and then again when I did my leg in. Petseal fixed it though.

Want a lend of one? I've a silver tank in the shed, it's a bit ****ed up to be honest, I patched some dents but I've never sanded the filler back, looks rubbish... But it doesn't leak.
