Hi
Another question! Serviced my pointy the other day. I changed the oil/filter and fitted some new spark plugs (NGK jobbies) I used a Feeler gauge and adjusted the gaps to 006-007 (as per owners manual) and my SV ran like a bag of poo, it conked out a few times. So i opened the gaps up a bit more and it improved, but still a bit iffy compared to the old plugs, bike started like a dream. Summit a miss here or do the plugs need to bed in or summt? |

they shouldnt need bedding in. cheack the ht leads, and possibly whack some wd40 in the connections. if that fails check the earths but that would be the last thing i would check

nah, standard plugs were in. The electrode was quite warn. Think i'll stick em bak in and see it goes bak to normal.
Bike ran fine today tho, but it was a little dicey when starting it this morning. (chonked out twice then idled fine) |

Hi.
What tool did you use to fit the plugs? Years ago I had a car that has slimline plugs like the SV. The plugs were difficult to get too and if you used the wrong tool you could easily crack the porcelain leading to a misfire. Check the porcelain for any hair line cracks. They can be difficult to spot. Kind regards Tim. |

Id vote for a dodgy plug. Swap one over at a time and see if it changes. its really not that uncommon for a wonky plug.
Failing swap both plugs back. If it works well, then you may have a pir of dodgy plugs, rare, but not impossible. I never gap plugs They ususaly come out of the box with a 7thou gap, and thats clse enough. If all that isnt the cause then look for the bigger issue as highlighted above, but check that all leads are pushed home properly. |

Put old plugs back in and see how it goes ... if better you have dodgy plug, this happens!!
You may just have disturbed something when doing the changeover of either the plugs or the filter ... like the airbox may have come adrift slightly? |
