Default Buying an SV

Hi,
Im just signed up to this board. I currently have an 05 CBR 1000rr and I'm in the market for a used SV650s or 1000s to use on the track. I was hoping you could give me some advice on what model years would be a better buy and what models to stay away from. Looking to spend under $3k.
Thanks!

No dog years to stay away from. Just get the best you can. For that budget I reckon you would stuggle to get a Fuel injected Pointy. Guess you'll just have to put up with a carbed curvy - which plenty of people use on the track

If you're buying a bike for track use please remember that the yellow ones are much faster than any others

Heed is right, they are much faster. I beleive Hovi5 has some graphs and data somewhere illustrating just how much faster a yellow curvy is than any other sv650s produced ever in the history of time

You might be able to get a fuel injected pointy for under 3k, check out the for sale section of this forum or put up a wanted advertisment! Ive seen some advertised at about £2600 for an '03 model.

I think we are talking dollars here?Get a good low mileage lightly damaged one and throw away the damaged bits for track use.
