That one looks like an electric beginners guide although you couldn't really tell without looking through the book, and. you may be better off with one specifically for acoustic guitars, although the chords teaching will be the same/similar, the melodies and the style of playing would more than likely be different, so although it is a good book, I would look for a specific acoustic to help you get that type of sound you want. and get you going quicker.. I may be wrong though as some guides are for both electric and acoustic.

I think the CD Rom i had was by that author and it was very good at getting me going.

Jeez I didn't realise that guitar lessons could have that effect. Think I might try

Hi I'm self taught for about 12 years now, if you're looking to just start off strumming a few chords together you cant do better thaqn lookin for some simple guitar tab off the net, ideally try and learn something that you know quite well, for me it was easier stuff like oasis/beatles cos they tend to be just 3 or 4 different chords used per song. Try this link for guitar tab explained, its pretty good and straight forward - http://www.guitaralliance.com/ultima..._tablature.htm

Then once you've got your head round how tab works then try the following link to get some track ideas -
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/

The tabs on this site are quite detailed/complicated at times so best to start off with extremely basic tab. One of the main things I found was to start really slowly with my L hand in the correct 'fingering' position for that chord and strum 4 counts and then change myu fingering to creat a different chord whilst keeping the 4 count rythmn, sounds difficult but it really isnt, its never too late to learn!! Any more advice needed then PM me and I'll see if I can dig anything up from my PC at home.
Hope this helps
Phil
