Default New driving test

Just heard this in my ear from Radio1....

New driving test proposed:
Minimum 100hours driving lessons before you're allowed to take the test
Range of roads, not just local test routes
Night driving
Motorways
Mandatory video's of accidents etc (I'm guessing crash test footage)

Some people apparently are wanting to see off-road stunt-style skid control (using a skid trolley so chavs don't learn HOW to skid in the first place).

Someone at the DVLA (or somewhere) has got their head screwed on! Buy that man (or woman) a beer!

100 hours is a lot, I imagine at present most people only have 15-25 ?

Nope, 20 for car, 12 for bike. With the usual walk to the garage, get in, adjust seat, drive off, then come back soon enough so that the next one may start on time it'll ammount to perhaps 60% real driving / riding time.

Ok, so not the same hours, but there is an ammount of hours you need to do first. While in the UK you can go and take a test without any training.

it should depend on your driving skills...........whats the point in having all those lessons(over £1500) if you can drive after 1??

So is that 100 hours of official training or 100 hours on the road? If its a case of 100 hours with a driving instructor then it will only be kids who have parents with money that will be able to get a licence. I would have thought that it would lead to more people taking the risk of being caught and driving without a licence and therefore without insurance etc. Maybe its time to become a driving instructor too.
