hi guys n gurls,
my sv broke today for the third time with the third differnt problem! guess they dont like english weather!! anyway pulling away from my house and before i get the chance to change up to second gear the engine stops and the oil pressure light comes on as i come to a swift stop! i try the starter and nothing no starter motor or anything, my best guess is that it is the kill switch attached to the side stand has been buggerd up but im not sure does anybody know how i would check this ? im not very mecanical minded but dont rerally fancy having the garage come and pick it up its a curvy 02 650 by the way cheers |

I take it there is oil in it?
And petrol? And you didn't knock the kill switch on the right bar to "off"? ![]() ![]() We've all done that. ![]()

To check the switches that kill the bike, remove the wires from the switch & put the ends together securely. This has the same effect as the switch being closed, and if you do it to all switches, you can start the bike without clutch (not sure I'd want to) and ride with the side stand down (definitely wouldn't want to).
Since you ride a curvy, that's about the limit of my knowledge really. However, when you hit the starter button, does the starter relay click, or the starter turn? If the relay clicks or the motor turns, the bike isn't set to "Kill". |

Whilst you're down there looking, move the side-stand up & down (with someone else holding the bike), you can't miss it. |

Have you got lights or any other electrics? If so do they go dim when you hit the starter? You may have a battery problem or a connection problem.

ive just had a think and relised that it cant be the side stand switch because the bike would usally start in nutral with the stand down im guessing it must be the clutch lever kill switch or the starter button, does this sound right to you?
