Default Anyone had probs like these?

06 plate 650S, fueling seems to be up the wall...starts first time and no probs, gets warm, when knocking down throo gears for junctions, lights etc, when revs drop it just cuts out...bugger to start again! backfiring a fair bit. Noticed a nice split in one of the tank breather pipes (bout 1inch long rite throo both sides), running like a bag o' spanners! going into dealers 2moro as still under warranty...just wondered if anyone else had probs like this? Reckon it either being starved of fuel or air. Let ya's know wot happens with it.

My '05 got the split in one of the breathers after a few thousand miles, doesn't affect anything. Deffo a dealer/warranty job.

Is the idle speed set correctly?

I reckon that's a crank breather hose you're seeing that's split... But shouldn't really be your problem, they can cause running problems if they're blocked, but holed, no (but still very bad news, since they're open to the crankcases!) I could be wrong, though.

I've nothing constructive to add as to what's causing it though, sorry...

The breather hose isn't from the crankcase, it's one of two that come from the bottom of the fuel tank.

Fairy nuff. The carbed ones just have one. Wonder if that's some sort of emissions thing? If it is, it could definately give you running issues- a tank only really needs one exit, and a breather in the fuel cap.

One of the hoses is the water drain hose, the other is something else I have forgotten. It is meant to have a split in it.

I had similar problems this morning (99 curvy)....the bike cut out on me twice (in a 2 mile journey) but it only happens when it's really cold like it is now.

I'm going for the "let's see what happens when it warms up" approach

What's the split for? I know some dirtbikes have the hoses split at the bottom to stop them clogging with mud but this is half way up?

Default thanks

thanks everyone for the input, put it in this morning, picked it up this evening...fuelling probs were due to the can, it just needed re-mapping!! (asked dealer about 4 months ago if it would need doing...but...oh no!) as for the pipe, bloke did say what it was but it wasn't the breather (can't remember wot now tho! runs along side breather) it deffo should not have a split in it...so been replaced...idle was 1500, now a more suitable 1200-1300 when warm. throttle loverly and smooth now, feels like a different bike...seems to be bit more mid-range as well, maybe it just cos it smoother....nice tho.
Just glad the main dealer is a decent one, no hassles, job done, nicer bike...1 happy guy!
thanks everyone!
