Default HELP!!! - R&G Bar Ends

Help - I treated myself to some R&G bar ends this aftermnoon at the MCN show.

Got back and tried to fit them but am a total **** and cant.

They came with 2 sets of botls but neither of them are the right size, one set too short and one too long. I managed to put the original ones back in.

It seems like by the time I get the nut on the screw on the smaller R&G ones the rubber bit is too large to go in the bars. One the large ones the nut does not even begin to squeeze the rubber bit so they remain loose - any ideas?

Cheers,
Kev

the bar ends work by squashing a bit of rubber to make it thicker until it fits tightly. So its to be expected that its loose initially.

I'd realised that, but the rubber bit is big enough on the longer bolts to actually get squashed and on the small bolts it seems too big and gets squashed before going into the bar.

I had thought about cutting it but just wanted some reassurance from the forum first incase I was doing something ridiculous.....

When I fitted mine they only came with shorter bolts. I unscrewed the stock bar ends and then screw the stock bolt back in a little. Then pulling on that, I was able work the rubber and nut towards the end of the bar to a point where I could just screw the R&G bar-end and bolt in.

If the long ones wont tighten any further because they're only threaded part of their length, try using a length of copper tube or suchlike as a spacer, it worked when I fitted my vstrom handguards.

Would cutting the rubber to suit work?
