Default ok, spent the readies

Well is the wife going to kill me. she knows I want a replacement for the SV that was last seen on the back of a universal salvage transporter.

So I thought long and hard. I want an GSXR 750 after trying the brothers last year. But I analysed my off. It could have happened to anyone I crossed over some white lining covered in **** and down I went.

In reality that was an excuse. I was impatient and desperate to overtake a queue of traffic that was in my opinion dawdling and I would bloody well show them. I overtook about 4 cars and was still on the wrong side of the road when an oncoming car appeared so time to get back to my side. Hence crossing the white line. I was unable to pick where I crossed and had to get in too quick. I had left myself no margin. That is why I went down. Not the greasy white line. My stupid mistake.

So my conclusion is I am not right for the 750 never mind the 1000 I was considering. I am too impatient and will find myself in trouble riding on bravado instead of skill. So with the prospect of an SP30 arriving in the post any day I cannot afford to have to much right wrist. and therefore opted for a slightly safer option.

K3 off flea bay with 4449 miles on the clock. I need to arrange collection. (Only about 10 miles away so that is not a problem) oh and to pay for it assuming it is right. £3100. Not exactly a bargain but a damm sight lower than the dealer pricing I had seen for them.

But the one thing I am confused about is. how could anyone have both a bike and one of those big metal boxes in the background of the second piccy. OK may not be his but a family member. Damm anyone in my family with one of those soon wouldn't be

personally I would go for the GSXR. Beenz has the thou and its amazing, it just looks so well balanced. I find my wife's SV pointy snatchy both in handling and throttle compared to the Daytona so I tend to ride more erratically on it

You'll just have to learn more wrist control Perhaps the more potent machine will make you think more about it.

I know I'm much more aware and sensible with my Daytona 955 than I ever was on any 600/650 but faster overall. I think I'm a much better rider now, which just shows how cr*p I was before

either way, enjoy your return to the road.

Oops, sorry didn't read your message well - you have already bought it

Mr Wilky joins the 4 pot massive

Looks in good nick too Tim, I trust you'll have lots of fun together. You'll definitely see the differences once you get used the the much wider rev band. I used to ride my K6 up to 10k just like the SV, until I got the bug of hearing my Akrapovic at 15k RPM

No doubt we will see some more pictures soon....

Tim

I've ridden both, you should have got the 750. Its better its got more mid range and more torque. The 600's going to seem buzzy after the SV, and I bet in 6 months time you'll regret not getting the 750...

dont get me wrong the 600 is a great bike and it will have midrange, just not as much as the 750 does. You'll find after a while the GSXR voices will start talking to you and you'll spend alot of time at +10000rpm IMHO the 750 has more of everything the 600 has. But I would say that I'm biased

Looks a clean bike though and the correct Chav colours for a GSXR ( Yes that is directed at you falc )

Welcome to the 4 Pot Massive

I think Tim was torn between the 750 and 1000

My mates' wife is expecting twins so he felt he had to punt his K2 GSX-R750 last week, fastest colours,7500 miles. He had it from new, never been revved to 5 figures, huge chicken strips( in 10yrs of riding my mate still cannot control a bike or corner! ), mint nick, minted owner...........

......sold it to a shop! £3000

Gutted is not the word , much as a like my SV it would have been making way for that thing without question. Never thought to give us a phone about it. Did not want the hassle of advertising it (told u he was minted). Gutted.

Shop even told him they would punt it for £3800. Bet it is advertised at £3999

So if any one wants to buy the most non thrashed gixxer ever, go to Devines in Glasgow...... and make a proper offer

Just don't tell me about it

I would have plumped for the 750, but I don't blame you go 600 as I was surprised to see how little difference there was in insurance costs between the 750 and thou'.

......and of course cos its a blue n'white it will be as fast as any of the slow 750 colours!

Yes I was, I checked out insurance and it was not too horrendous. However, as you know I am not a fast rider and don't need the extra MPH and acceleration. My confidence has taken a bash after my off. TBH what persuaded me against a 1000 was an advert I read where the previous owner had been called a pussy. I don't need a bike that has a balls out riding style as prerequisite for owning. I see enough when I have ridden with my blade owning neighbour and his loony mates.

You have to remember that for me a bike is a sunny weekend toy and not my primary transport. At the price I paid I guess that if I have made a mistake in 6 months I could still sell it for what I paid, and be more the wiser at the ways of modern sports type bikes. Yes my ego was wanting me to go for something a little more fun. But in the cold light of day, I decided that I could not justify ownership of a fun bike without the skills to use it to its potential. But who knows, this time next year
