Default LCD TV advice

Our 28" Widescreen CRT is playing up, switching itself off at random times and cannot work out what aspect it needs to be at (flickers a bit) so im counting down to the moment when it gives up for good.

Im looking at the moment at 32" LCDs as we view the TV from around 8-9ft away, and basically I want to be able to use it to plug my 360 in

Went to have a look around currys/comet and saw a Toshiba 32WLT66 on sale for £699. The picture looked a lot crisper than some of the other models, even if the design of the TV of itself was not first rate. Ive looked online and can get it for under £600.

Does anyone have any recommendations for 32" LCDs or know anything about the above TV? Im sure someone on here must be into their Home Cinema

We've just bought a Panasonic Viera and am delighted with it. It's my first real foray away from Sony. Not sure about price online but here's a link to Comet to help compare with others.... http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p....do?sku=317209

i dont know anything about LCD tv's but i'm looking into getting one soon, all i know is the prices are dropping fast compared to last year.
ASDA are doing a swisstec plasma for £800 and MAKRO are doing the same plasma for £700 vat, makro recon its a samsung plasma panel so should be ok.

No idea about price / quality ratio, but Samsung screens were supposed to be the best a few months ago for a mix of HD (360) and normal pictures. You'll have to search to find out who uses their screens though to find the best set.

If you are going to use it for mainly HD then Loewe are supposed to be great (Have a Loewe CRT and it has absolutely superb picture quality - better than a lot of LCD's still have now for non HD pictures), but you'll pay for the privelege in size. As a guidline think one screen size down for the same money.

I've got to stick with CRT tellys. The dog keeps on jumping whenever animal planet is on and those thin tellys wouldn't take the abuse...

Don't trust the look of a panel in currys/comet etc. They are playing high definition feeds which are split between all those screens, and some aren't set up correctly for the best picture.

You better off checking the www.avforums.com

lots of good advise on there, I haven't kept up to date with tv's since getting my 32" philips lcd in the jan sales. But a good place for prices is www.lcd-tv-deals.co.uk and the WLT series is ment to be a very good panel.

Thanks for the advice, these panels which are Samsungs/LGs which have been rebranded - does that show that we pay for the name (as in same parts, different brands) or are they the same panel with different internals?

hey guys

samsung tvs are pretty good contrast ratio but sound quality is really crap

toshiba 32wlt66 not a bad tv but only has 1 hdmi slot if u can afford it go for the tosh 32wlt68 much better pic and great sound

but to my knowledge lg make panels for quite a few of lcds in comet currys etc

i find it very hard to believe that comet shops are splitting a hd signal cause it not really possible to split the picture and still get decent pic on the tv

i only know this stuff cause i sell them

cheers russ
