Default yosh box advice and settings?

Just been to my local dealer this morning to get the yosh box remap done on my bike however they were pretty unfamiliar with the hardware and had never done an sv with a full system before so just used a guestimate.

The dealer in question has no dyno and my bike is not road legal at the mo so a road test could not be carried out and the adjustments have not been checked. I'm a bit concerned about the settings that have been used the dealer was honest in telling me they used a guesstimate and told me if i wasnt happy with it i could go back and get it changed.

my bike is a k4 and runs a full m4 system, a pipercross airfilter with opened up air box, tank spacers and the rest of the engine is standard.

the adjustments that have been made were

low 0% , medium +5% , high +5%

does that seem compareable to anybody elses' yosh box adjustments with similar mods?

I'm not familar with the pipercross filters myself, having never setup a bike with them, however the M4 systems are alot more free flowing, I't looks like the dealer has aired on the side of caution and just richened up the mid and top, Most people will have relied on the dynamics of the ecu and only done a slip-on, and if they have gone beyond this they normally would get comparison dyno runs before and after each change.

Find yourself a local dyno.

Cheers Mark.

easier said then done when your in deepest darkest scotland tho.

surely any full system and any aftermarket filter setup will be similar.

it doesnt look like there is that much adjustment that can be made on the yosh box anyway but i'd at least like to see what other people are running.

I'm getting my K5 bike dynoed and possibly the ECU remapped (with other stuff like servicing) in a fortnight. I guess I won't really need it remapped as it'll just have a Yoshimura slip-on & Pipercross air filter.

Not true, the M4 is one of the best, you might have better luck on SVRIDER as that's an american site (and so is the pipe).

Cheers Mark.

YPE in Bonnyrigg mate, good shop. Don't know if they've got a Yoshi box, mind.

Settings for your bike will be different to others though. I ran a full M4 system on my old minitwin and so did steve on an identical bike. Both bikes required a different fueling setup so the only sure fire way of getting it right is to do it on a dyno. Fancy a holiday down in sunny Surrey???

BTW your Ohlins arrived today..just pending your fairing then i can get it all posted off!!

I had my SVthou remapped with a Yoshi box, and I've got race ackros and a piperX filter. I vaguely remember one of the settings being +10% possibly both. It was too long ago for me to remember.

The Yoshi box is not particularly accurate IIRC, but it does the job at a price. I know it was a completely different bike, but my K4 GSXR 600 was set up at +5, +10, +8, which worked very well (as some on here know).

Hardware was a BMC filter and full Akrapovic system. It did tend to shoot 6 inch flames out the back on over run though, which was great fun
