Thinking of getting a new guitar; I have my eyes on this Ibanez:
http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/71829 What do we all think? I hold ibanez in high esteem, but since buying a jackson which isnt that great, my confidence is somewhat dented in all guitars ![]() Also, can anyone recommend a good 50 watt amp? Matt |

I have an Ibanez EDR470. Every Ibanez I have played has never let me down, they are ace guitars. I think you can get mega good deals off ebay though, as a lot of musicians get hard-up and have to sell their instruments pretty cheaply!

As always, go and play the instrument your going to buy, ever one is ever so slightly different!
I was in denmark street the other week, and playing Japaneses strats with texas special pickups. One shop, fantastic guitar, felt right, sounded great. The shop next door same guitar, same fret board etc...It just felt plasticly and horrible Dan |

Deffo try that one before you buy it, Ibanez S series are pretty unique with that slim body. They don't suit everybody's style, and if your going for heavy metal you'd be better off with an RG (with Evos or Blazes... hmmm bliss) or anything based on it (JEM...........*drools*), IMHO. The S just isn't "chunky" enough, to me it felt quite flimsy, might have been the visual impact though. I felt it lacked the punch from a heavier guitar. Great for lead work, though, it really sings.
disclaimer: although I was drooling for the JEM, I find it stupidly overpriced (thank you, Mr. Vai! ![]() |

For amps- same as guitars try them all. I love my Line 6 Spider II 30watt- they don't do a 50, but there's a 75watt version. They have built in noisegates which is very handy, they also have six effects- where you can have two on ata time- chorus flange, phasor, tremelo, sweep echo, tape echo and reverb.
My mates got a Marshal MG50DFX, which is really quite nice as well- though it doesn't have as much distortion as the line 6. hth |

Only ever buy a guitar at a distance if you're a gambler at heart

i tried one of those when i bought my Ibanez, not sure what mine is its an RG summat, black and pointy and dangerous looking.
the one your looking at was nice, bit light for my tastes, but pretty good, but as has been said try it first, i tried 4 separate ibanez in the same shop, and 3 of them had (minor) probs, 2 had dodgy switches/pots and one had a warped neck, although the shop has to take some responsibility as they should check theyre ok before they put them on display. Have you thought about something without a floyd?, ive come back to Ibanez after 10 years off, moved onto strats, and i must admit, as good as the ibanex is its apain, when you break a string or have to chnage them. |

i actually went down to GAK in october with the intention of buying that very guitar....i played it for 5 mins then gave it back to them....personally i thought it had a pretty poor feel and totally no action to the neck..but you may like it..i was there for quite a while and myself and supervox tried at least 10 different guitars in the end i walked of with a PRS SANTANA SE.
it just felt fantastic...and the sustain and playability is amongst the best i have ever played....however if money was no object i think i would have gone along the lines of a vai or satriani ibanez.
