fitting mesh to front opening on curvey lower fairings

I want to do something similar to my pointy. I am not sure how much hassle is involved with fixing it though.
I can't believe no company has done an after market product for that big gap a the front. |

Yeah I read through it and it looks very very good.
I could make out his fitting instructions however. Did he need to drill the original fairing?? Also where is a good place to get mesh that won't melt away in winter. |
