Unhappy Rider Down

Me!!

100 meters from home, first corner, massive slick of diesel i just didnt notice, cold tyres.

going all of 10mph on my new daytona aswell, the whole left hand side is totaled, hole in engine casing the lot

all ive got is a grazed knee, helmet took a whack (glad i wasnt wearing me new one tbh) and all my textile kit did its job superbly and isnt marked.

question: is anybody responsible for the diesel on the road??

Sorry to hear about that, glad your reasonably ok.

THe thing that really ****es me off about diesel spills is that its so easy to avoid.
How hard is it to:

A) wipe any spillage of the tank before you pull off
B) have a filler cap that doesn't leak (FFS)

If the council had been notified of the diesel spill then they could be held responsible for not cleaning it up as soon as possible but if it was fresh then probably not, i suggest you pm ed and ask him.

Daryl.

p.s glad you're o.k, at least the bikes repairable.

Oh no!! I doubt you'll get anything to stick on the council, I'm afraid. I'm glad you're OK. There are always lots of panels for a 955 on ebay. More spend but at least you probably won't have to buy new.

Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Still glad you're not hurt much, you will have gone through the crank breather cover (magnisiun) about £60 or so and require a new seal about £14, the cover sticks out so you need crash bungs, but as Ed says secondhand panels aren't a problem normally.

Take a bit of time over fitting the new seal as it's a little tricky and if done wrong can result in heavier oil consumption, not really a problem but read the manual (if you haven't got one, email me and I'll scan the page for you).

Hope you get it sorted ASAP.

Cheers Mark.
