Default Update on the Bandito..

Smoooooth operatorrrrrrrrr..

Seriously, got left standing by quite a few SV's at the lights now, quite harsh. SV is definatly better low down, and so much quicker off the line than the bandit... I've got a feeling you've got to do a proper race launch to stand a chance.

Still only at 9000rpm currently. Revs up MUCH quicker than the SV, im in 6th at 39mph opposed to the book speed of 59mph for 6th on the SV.

It doesn't feel quicker than the SV, but i think it is quicker once the revs rise, hitting 8000rpm im having to change instantaniously before it hits 9k, and it seems to pull nice at the upper end of the revs...

Don't like the revs in 6th on the motorway, sits far to high for me compared to the SV.

However, my friend has just bought his first bike, a nice K5 (that light bluish colour, black frame) Pointy, so once the Bandits run in and he's got some experience, we'll see how much quicker/slower the Bandito really is.

But one thing, the bandits soooooooooooo comfy to ride, but i really really really miss the SV engine note and the instant low down power. I get another days worth of fuel from the Bandit as well (larger tank) which is muchos handy. And theres a lot more protection against the weather. The engine is nice and smooth, but come on, i like rawness, thats why i have a 2.0 16v corsa dammit

I need another Vee Twin definatly.... (Still got my SV, still need to sort it out). I can confirm I definatly prefer the Vee Twin engine to an IL4 (even if it is far smoother). Hopefully they will continue to make twins in sports bikes.

Boomshanka.

glad you definatly prefer the Vee Twin engine to an IL4, this is how i feel about it, the bandit does its job well but is a tad boring.

You have to rev the conkers off a 650 Bandit to get places...maybe the new Liquid cooled one will be better.

Have to go for the 1250 if you want low down power.

But comfort does go a long way.

I like the bandit, a good honest bike and great value for money, but you have to be honest with what it is, the chassis development is way behind the SV's and even with extensive modification can be found wanting when pushed far sooner.
Does the job and easy to work on, loads of bolt-ons available very cheaply, never tried the 650 variant, but then the engine was never the problem, good tool just a little out of it's time for its target peer group (fazer/hornet/SV) these days.

Cheers Mark.

Why so? Surely it's just a number on a dial! You are not pushing the engine to somewhere it wasn't designed to go.

Daimo, getting used to those revs takes a while. Even on my GSXR I "hated" giving it a big jab on the gas to get the revs up. Then One day I tried to chase an SV, and found that I had to rev it to make it go.

Once the Akrapovic was on and it was remapped it was a different bike, I loved the sound so much that I used to ride it harder than I needed to at times. I actually ride the 'Blade slower (I think).

I guess what I'm saying is that you just have to get used to revving an IL4, once you find where the midrange is you can keep in that band, but it's hard to do while you're running it in..
