Default 1st Service.

What is involved with the first 600 mile service on the SV?

Also is it supposed to be free?

Oil change, oil filter change, check bolt torques.

Free if you managed to haggle it with the purchase price.

As Law says and a tighten up of everything.

After my first service my dealer suggested to take the revs up slowly. Increase 1000rpm every 200 miles.
Did my bike no harm

They just changed the thin 'running in' oil for some good stuff* and said you can now start to increase the revs.

*good stuff as in better than the thin 'running in' oil but not the best money can buy.

Mine was free labour, parts only. Cost about £30. Learnt something new that day too, leave the ignition when you're pushing the bike & you can see how fast you're running
