Yeah I know its a cbr600rr and not an sv, but symptoms are universal so I thought i'd ask the experts on here...
![]() Had a couple of issues with weak starts for the last few weeks, intermittently ie the dash was fading and it wasn't quite happy starting but did start, went to start the bike on sunday and it started ok but when I went to move away it cut out on me and wouldn't restart, it turned over but eventually the battery just died trying to get it going I managed to get hold of a charger and charged the battery up last night, popped it back in the bike this morning and again it turned over (abeit weakly) but wouldn't fire up... Just wondering if it means a knackered battery (even though the charger shows a green light) or if its another problem, maybe rectifier or starter motor.. Don't have any dealers near me or a tester to charge voltage, Was going to order a new battery, (its got a yuasa ytz10s in it) but didn't want to waste my time if it could be something else Any help/suggestions appreciated ![]() |

I've got one sell it a buy a Suzuki
![]() Could be a knackered battery, I would have thought though if it had been on the charger all night it would have been good to go. Unless like you say the battery is not holding its charge. Is it the bikes original battery ? Could be coupled with a reg / rec failure perhaps. I've been told before that if the reg / rec fails sometimes it can lead up to your battery ending up as toast. I'd be getting the charging circuit tested first just to rule that out, then at least you know your putting the battery into a bike with a good charging circuit. Go and buy a voltmeter you cheapskate ![]()

You could have flooded the engine trying to get it started again. It is possible to do this on FI bikes. To restart you need to open the throttle to the stop. This cuts the fuel add just clears the cylinders as the bike turns over. Should then restart.

I'll try halfwits at lunchtime and see if they've got a voltmeter, where do I need to hook it upto to test the circuit ? (yes i'm a techy noob)
Thanks for the FI tip Scoobs, I do think it might be the battery tho as it drained after 4-5 start attempts |

From "Fully recharged" to Dead after 5? Sounds poor.

New battery ordered, hopefully cure it
I thought it'd probably be the battery, but a 2nd opinion never hurts to someone as dense as myself about bikes ![]() Cheers |
