Is it brand new or second hand? If it's new, and there's a problem, you should be able to refer back to the 'dealer' or 'seller' - spose you could always email scottoiler.

That flow rate is way too fast, and probably dangerous.

Scottoiler suggest 2 drips per minute but I found this to be too much.

I started at 2 drips p/min and kept turning it down untill there was only a little bit of oil splatter on the rear wheel.

Hovi5,

Scottoiler say 1 - 2 dpm..... say 1.5dpm, so that's one drip every 40 secs.

Are you using "proper" Scotoil? The current colour is blue but there may be some peeps with an old bottle of the red stuff lurking about. They do a red oil but that is for use in high temp places.

Where have you mounted your reservoir? If it's too close to the engine or in a warm airflow then the viscosity will reduce and flow too quickly.

Strange that it should be flowing too fast - hope the internals of the reservoir are okay, not that there's much to go wrong. Does the oil flow stop when the engine stops?

If its not dripping when the engine stops, this sounds like either the oil that you are using is way too thin (as Jabba stated) or that the oiler is out of whack. I had one go too slow and sent it to Scottoiler (with proof of purchase) who adjusted it and returned it in four days, that was only a couple of weeks old though and purchased from new. I dunno what they would charge for an old unit to be fixed if its not had the correct oil used.

Good Luck!
