Anybody got one of these or similar?
![]() Works in both directions they say but, um, how? Got to be something to do with that sliding collar thingmy but just thought I'd ask before I did some trial and error testing... Oh and the general idea is you apply the pointy end to the screw and batter the blunt end with a hammer, isn't it? Last edited by Tiger 55; 12-03-07 at 12:55 PM. |

Yes, set the direction, then belt the blunt end with a big hammer as you attempt to turn it as if its was a normal screwdriver.
Messing about with a small hammer will do nothing. you really do need to have a couple of lb and heavy blows.

it looks like a standard impact 'driver ' al,,,,as said by tw.turn the collar(remember 'tighty righty ,loosy lefty)so basically anti clockwise to loosen something ,and clockwise to tighten something

Though do be careful, it's quite easy to damage other stuff when using them, ie, knock lugs off the swingarm as someone here did (I think). Very handy tools.

Well that achieves **** all! No, the collar thing just spins, it has no effect on the direction of drive. What am I doing wrong folks?
Or is it knackered? Last edited by Tiger 55; 12-03-07 at 10:32 AM. |

unfortunately mine is not a silverline one so I cannot be make/model specific.
My impact driver has a R<--->L indication on the black bit end. To set the direction you push in and turn the bit end. This then sets the direction of rotation if you were to push down on the driver
