I've got upside downy forks and calipers from an RGV 250. (I originally fitted these to a GS 500 many years ago) Now, I have offered these up to my SV650s (curvy shape) and length of forks appears appropriate, SV wheel spindle, wheel and discs all seem to line up with RGV measurements of caliper etc. The yokes of the RGV appear usable also & I intend on fitting SV steering stem to them . It goes without saying the springs & oil will need changing to suit, but I would appreciate any input on this issue.
Am I being unrealistic/mad ![]() Last edited by Smr; 11-03-07 at 11:45 PM. |

I have seen an RGV front end on an SV although I was more interested on the Fairing he also used, so can't remember what he'd done to make it work, but it's been done before.
Cheers Mark.

I'm suer it can be made to work, and work well, I've seen a 7/11 with RGV250 forks on and it probably weighed a good 20 kilos more than an SV... I just wonder if it wouldn't be easier to sell the parts you have and pick up a recent GSXR front end, dead easy to fit (well, as such things go) and most folks don't even feel the need to revalve or respring... I didn't, for instance. Don't know how heavy you are but for anyone up to about 12 stone they'd be fine.
Course, your way is more interesting ![]()

I'm up for the challenge. Hagon (suspension Peeps) are able to supply appropriate springs for the Sv's weight, I've just got to take the original ones down to them so they can get the right length.
Does anyone know where I can get seal kits for the RGV calipers ? They are 4 pot Tokico's. |

A friend of mine has a yam 350lc with an RGV front end conversion and he has fitted 6 pot TL calipers to it! So basicly whith some spacing/adapter plates you can fit any calipers you want!
