juddery braking

evening all,

i got to a red light today, stopped behing some big flatbed truck. no option of filtering right or left. it pulled away and then so did i. looked both ways across the junction as i went through it (bit paranoid after a couple of red runner experiences!). truck ahead of me then braked hard, i was following too close and had to grab the front brake when i realised. i stopped in time but when i grabbed the brake (doing about 10-15 mph) it really juddered, a la abs that i've felt in a car. was this the front tyre just skidding along the road or does it indicate some sort of brake problem?

cracking day to be out riding today though. loving the fog city photosensitive insert on my visor!

juddering brakes while braking usally means you have crap on you disks(try cleaning them , the brake discs are warped (need new disc) or you head bearing is failing (needs replacing) !!! so hopefully in your case it is the earlier

hmmm.....hoping it's the first possibility, don't like the sound of the other two. i've had the bike since dec 1st and not cleaned the brakes as yet but ridden almost daily.....hopefully it is just crud build up.
