hey guys after i finish sorting out my claim for my crash i need to get a new bike. I want a twin cause i do lots of intown riding so i need the touque and i just prefer them to il4's. Ive got my heart set in a tl1000s not the r with a full fairing. The only problem is that i havnt found one close to me that i can go and have a sit on and get a feel for size and i dont want to ride 100 miles to try one out when i dont have the cash to buy it there and then. Im fairly short 5'8" with an inside leg of 29/30 so i have a bit of difficulty with tall bikes. I was fine on my curvy sv650s but it was teatering on being to tall.
The question is how much higher is the seat on a tl vs my old curvy? and also does anyone know the difference in hight between a tls and an sv1000 as im also quite interested in that as well but they are a lot more expensive. cheers guys. |

You're going to struggle if you find the SV tall. Looking at some figures for seat height:
SV650 = 800mm TL1000R=815mm TL1000S=835mm Do the maths. My TLR feels taller than my old curvy SV but the main issue is the shape of the tank being higher where your belly/ribs are than the SV is, meaning you 'may' struggle to reach the bars. Just go and try it, you may be surprised. Besides, there used to be a guy in Worcester who was a lot shorter than you, in fact its safe to say he was <5ft, but he was always tearing around on his ZX6R no probs. |

For in town riding an twin poses no real benefit to a modern IL4. If you just prefer twins that's cool but why not try something new? Hornet are nice and low.

Even better than that - buy Kitkat's raptor 1000, or mine for that matter. Same engine as the TL1000, handles ace and is good for those of us with short legs

There is no alternative other than sitting on the bike and making your own assessment. |

I even tried a cut down seat. All that seemed to do was make my legs go wider cos it was closer to the bike frame. Still got the cut down seat if anyone wants to make me an offer. |
