I love working from home but get really fed up when my Son is not at college (he is there 3 days a week) and his phone is ringing contstantly and he's talking on it, music going TV etc, in and out the front door, mates ringing the doorbell, phoning him on the landline, him barging in the study and asking me for money etc etc,
![]() Then it occured to me that I can remember feeling like that when I went out to work too when people were noisy around me! is it just me? how does anyone get work done when they need to concentrate and all around is chaos? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Headphones and an MP3 player. Its the only way I can concentrate at work.

Only time I do any real work is when the job is in chaos, but thats what Im paid to do, cant stand it when its quiet because it gets so boring.

Similar to fizz, with the difference being the radio.
Naturally if I have to be in a meeting, or need to talk to someone else for any reason, then I don't listen to music. Us code monkey's are notorious for the fact that, once we have our head in a problem & we're working on it, if you disturb us, you risk your life! One of the lads almost got the sack for disrupting my boss the other day. |

I've got exams in a month, and i can only study in the local library, which is deadly silent.
The slightest bit of noise and i'm stuffed. I'm sure i did all my A Level revision in from of the television, and I wrote all my university essays in front of the Eastenders omnibus - not sure what's happened to my brain! |

Same; I can only study when its silent. The only voice I can stand is my own as I'm telling myself information.
I get really really uptight when people in the library start talking, or whispering, or a phone goes off. Very rarely can I work with some disturbance! Matt |

There could be brass band playing with fireworks going off and I wouldnt notice it! Always had the happy nack of blocking out back ground noise, helps when you work in a busy and very noisey hospital ward

![]() The music wouldn't work for me, I have to have complete silence when my cogs are whirring, especially when studying ![]() ![]() |
