i joined when i was 16.. way to young imho and left at 17 due to the admin process being a joke..

BUT the time i did spend there was great, you are required to attend parade evening, in which parade is held and then you go about doing "some thing"

to start with this will be training for your basic training weekend that you need to go on.

I didnt do this as the admin process took so long i never got my number and could never go, (6 months)

i did do rifle work, couple of weekend exercises though and several weekends training at my local centre.

I only left as the problems meant all my "mates" got in before me and i was left behind (boo hoo)

oh and that we had just invaded iraq so i got out before my number was issued and could be called up..

Would do it again if my life was different, but home life to prescious now..

I was gonna say the Wessex Yeomanry was disbanned ages ago.

My office is a stones throw from the barracks.

Tried it once. Really good bunch of lads, looking out for one-another.

Funny doing it tho, I attacked the enemy that was approaching our position with a spoon. Wasn't allowed a gun ( (We were artillery) & it turned out it wasn't the enemy, I wasn't getting any sleep or proper food as we were doing war games all weekend & the enemy turned out to be a bush. Still, it scared the be-jesus out of everyone at 3am. Hallucinations, eh?

what corp are you joining? Seeing as you live in Blandford i would put a safe bet on the Signals?

I was in 220 Field Ambulance (actually in the RCT) many moons ago. based just outside of Maidstone.

Quite enjoyed I did, but the job started to consume the hours, and the pay was much better than the army's....
