Decided to go down the B709 to St Mary's Loch today, then along to Moffat or back up the A708... Lovely as far as Innerleithen, then it got a bit wet. No probs, I'll just go back up the B709, bound to get through the rain. No, turns out I'm not, got p***ed on all the way to the A7, then it was liking riding in a power shower- I could actually feel the individual water drops getting through my jacket and splashing on my arms, like pin*****s Never had that before. Not to mention hundreds of eejits driving in low visibility with no headlights, and no stopping distance- saw three crashes in 15 minutes on the bypass.

Serves me right for daring to not wear my winter gear I suppose

Decided I couldn't be bothered with my bike today and took the bus to the Commonwealth for a swim. Good decision

The bypass is the stupidest piece of road in the UK - there's more eejits there than at a redneck convention!

You probably stayed drier too. My gloves are waterproof, and they don't leak round the outside, but so much water came through the sleeves of the jacket that the gloves filled with rain I've been wet on a bike before, but I've never been daft enough to get so utterly caught out in the wrong gear... Now I know why people become fwbs!

Last summer on my way home from work I decided that it was so hot I would take out the liner in my jacket & stick in under the seat. Riding round the M25 the sky's became very dark and then it hailed. Not normal hail, these were like marbles, and with just a mesh jacket I got very wet, and very cold very quickly.

About 5 miles from home I had to pull up under a bridge to get out of it. I was freezing, couldn't stop shivering and in the end took my jacket off, put the liner on, and then put the jacket back on. My boots were filled with rain water, my gloves were soaked through, and 5 minutes before it had been 25 degrees !!

Not nice is it.....

Coming back from the BSB at Knockhill is usually the best way to experience riding in torrential rain I've noticed!

The worst bit has to be either the rain getting into your lid and running down your face (usually on the motorway so you can't wipe it away) or feeling that first trickle of icy water creeping it's way between your shoulderblades and heading for your pants.

was a bit of a peee poor bank holiday weekend for the weather!
was decent on saturday though...
but sunday and monday....RANK ROTTEN...
the force told me not to go out, i am glad i cam to my sense...

i have been to knockhill ONCE in the last 10 years when its not rained in FIFE!

Hmmm...must be the law of sods because I pass by knockhill, dunfermline dollar at least 2-3 times a week and it hardly ever rains.

I went to Uni in Glasgow and it ****ed down all the time or was I just ****ed all the time. As for Greenock (used to work at Nat Semis)...****ed down all the time all of the time.

Maybe its a big cloud following anyone and everyone from the west

It's official, the east has better weather, Fife and East Lothian are the best places to enjoy dry sunny riding.

Knockhill gets weird weather One of the trackdays we did saw me riding home through foot deep floods at one point, but for most of the session it wasn't just dry, but sunny. Then poor old Wigan650 turned up for the afternoon session and apocalyptic weather ensued. Funny, the time before when he rode up he also got half drowned- Nutty ended up riding along a raised central reservation to get out of floods IIRC. Crazy day, that.
