Red face Sticky Box

Lately I'm finding it harder and harder to select neutral when changing from first. The lever almost seems to be stuck until I let out the clutch a wee bit with a few revs then I can get 2nd fairly easy and then it'll drop into neutral ok. Any ideas on whats going wrong? Am I in trouble?

Its quite common, especially as the bike gets older. My bike used to occasionally do it and as you said just slip the clutch a little and neutral will engage.

As for solutions, i dont have any....its a minor inconvenience but i never found it annoying enough to remedy.I imagine taking apart the clutch/gear selector peg/rod and giving it a good cleaning/greasing would solve it.

Happens on mine as the clutch cable gets slack. If you get a sizeable knock when going from neutral to first this may well be your probelm. You tend not to notice it when going between other gears as the bike is moving so less need for the clutch at all.

Clutch adjustment.

And searching of course.
