Default Stalls with scorpion

After recently hearing that Tomcat has a similar problem to me, I thought I'd open it up to the org.

We both have scorpions fitted, and on a cold start, occasionally the bike will stall. Both have only noticed this happening after fitting the exhausts. Both have the tell tale signs of a minor air leak.

I suspect this is to do with the fuel/air ratio being a little below the magic number, and revs being low when first turning the music factory on.

Mine's a pointy, Tomcat's is a curvy, so FI vs carbs theory is out the window straight away.

Anyone found similar issues? I've been considering getting it on a dyno with F/A rig to have a peek at it, but it doesn't really bother me that much to be honest, so I haven't as yet done anything about it.

Just a curiosity.

Hmm, mine's been doing this every now and again for a while too, only got standard anchor/can still on (K5 pointy). Seems to happen both when cold and warm (eg. just after filling up at petrol station), it definitely feels like a fuelling problem, you can feel it dieing but giving it more welly just doesn't keep it alive till it dies.

Not convinced the end can is relevant - would back pressure (or lack thereof) really make that much difference? After all they start up without a can at all quite happily. Dunno, I am mechanically curious but incompetent (a dangerous combination!)

My car used to do similar to that. Especially if it'd be run for a short distance, then stop for a few mins to get fuel. Refused to start sometimes too.

That was the fuel pump. Obvious sign on that was it cutting out if you took a right hand bend too tight.

Never had any problem with my Scorpion(s)
I have heated grips and used to ride a lot around town, so tend to make sure the idle speed is set at no lower than 1400, which might make a difference
