Hi guys,
I've started getting lots of little cuts in the centre of my rear tyre (pirelli diablo). They're about 10mm long and bout 0.5-1mm wide but not very deep and are roughly 10mm or so apart. I've done about 50 mile or so since these pis were took and have got even more. Any ideas?? Is my tyre goosed?? It's going/gone square anyway so will have to get a new tyre sometime soon anyway. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My prognosis is a white stripe shortly and prescribe a trip to your nearest tyre dealer.
But seriously if you were going to ride that today I wouldnt until someone here comes along who knows what they are talking about and says its ok as I dont think its very good nick. Last edited by the white rabbit; 20-05-07 at 09:45 AM. |

its fu**ed . you have got them from stones getting caught in between the hugger and tyre then sticking and grating the rubber when it it warm.

I agree with Dr Rich. Having used Diablo's for a while that is exactly how they start to look just before you get down to the canvas. And it can happen very quickly..............within 100 miles if not less.

You are indeed correct in saying it is fu**ed but it's not because of stones getting caught between the hugger and tyre. Reason is simply because the tyre is seriously fu**ed and as Lissa says, canvas will really be showing soon. Those tyres are worth three points to you by the way. Even if a Coppers will usually let you off if slightly just under the limit, in that state he/she will be seriously Pee'd off. Ben

I would defo get that changed as soon as, as you said it is getting worse the more miles you clock up and you don't want it to blow while you are riding it. As it heats up the rubber will only expand an will split even more. better to be safe than sorry.

I had a Bridgestone 020 on my old work Fazer that did exactly the same.
After about 25 miles a little white stripe started to show and then another 10 miles later (on the way to the workshop) the white stripe was all the way round. Change it asap!! |

Thanks guys. That was my general thinkin too. I'm not guna use it now until I get a new tyre fitted. Best price so far for a new diablo is £94.50 off tinternet inc p&p from moto-tyre.co.uk.
Anybody know anywhere cheaper? |
