Default Physical Limitations And Riding.

I was wondering how many people have some kind of physical limitation which affects their riding. Obvious ones that spring to mind are Rictus's terrible knee problem, and Slark01's recent thread about riding with one eye, but it's clear that there are quite a few more Org members who have problems of one kind or another.

I myself have a limitation that can be really annoying and inconvenient. After an operation several years ago, I was left with a significant part of my bladder missing. That probably doesn't sound like much compared to the awful injuries some people have suffered, but it means that I can go from merely needing a pee one minute, to being in absolute agony the next as the pressure builds. I've lost count of the number of hedges and walls I've had to dive behind out in the middle of nowhere

The most annoying part for me is that there seems to be no consistency to the problem. Some days I can go 5 hours or more without a problem, other days I seem to need the loo every hour.

So who else has a limitation, and how much does it affect your riding life?

Dodgy back (as quite a few others on the org have).

Usually doesn't effect my riding (esp since I got a back protector - the kind that strap to you, not insert into your jacket). Driving the car affect's my back more.

Some days rolling over in bed is distinctly difficult, let alone getting out of it, getting my gear on or sitting on the bike. Great fun for a 24yr old.

Yeah - I'm a back sufferer too.

Actually riding helps my back and as Baph says is much more paletable than sitting in my car.

The only real problem that I have is being able to swing my leg over 1st thing in the morning when it hasn't been stretched as my back restricts my right leg movements.

Oh yeah - and I'm a short **** which isn't great when trying to move the bike backwards up a slight incline. Just another reason for wanting a GSXR.

Why's that? Do they come with a reverse gear?

I seem to be able to get my feet flat on the floor and they are lighter.

Although it could all be in my head, just because I really want one!!!!

Broken ankle at the moment. It's my breaking foot so hopefully will not suffer too much when I get back on. I can't get a boot over the pot that runs half way up my leg. So I can't ride at all; you fortunate people!

They *are* lower and lighter

Don't think I've got any physical limitations except a slight lack of height, but not enough to affect me on the type of bikes I'm riding right now. Oh and contacts - do they count? I'd have to wear glasses otherwise, which would be a pain

The majority of my joints are completely knackered and I’m only 23, this is due to being heavily into competitive canoeing from the age of 12. Training twice a day 7 days a week has certainly taken its toll on me.

I also have to wear glasses now which are a real pain in the **** for riding, I’m considering contacts or laser eye surgery potentially.
