g*d damn piece of s**t
ive just the nightmare of all nightmares. changing down on sat morning, i blip the throttle and rev back and nothing happens, throttle goes slack and does nowt, revs drop to idle, eh whats all this then !!! quickly figure out that the throttle cables gone, manage to ride on the choke 500yds (that was lucky) to a h***a dealer to get them to have a quick look....... they confirm that its the cable, but theyre too busy, after all its a sat morning on a bank hol weekend so theyve no staff, and even if they did they dont have the part. right , next plan, so i ring round 3 seperate kawa dealers, none of them have the cable and they cant order it till tuesday, it wont come while thursday, and im on the ferry to the isle of man thurs night the best they can suggest is that i drop the bike in and theyll see if they can " have a look at it next week" AAAARRRHHHGGHHHHGHHHHHH !!!!! the h***a dealer suggest i go to a little spares place called SPRINT MOTORCYCLE SPARES on doncaster road, as they carry a lot of cables and they may have something the same length even if its not off a kwak. so there i am with the bike in bits on the pavement outside the shop trying to get the damn cable off the carb....... i ran out of swear words and even made up some new ones........... the chap at sprint Ian, spent nearly 2 hours, getting the cable out, and making another one up from a *******ised longer one and eventually got it done. without him , theres no chance id have been able to do it. we used the original cable outer and just put a new inner in, i was surprised the state the old cable was in, it could have broke in loads of places, when the new cable was in the throttle felt much smoother than it had done, so obviously the old cable had been dragging a while. so big hands up to SPRINT in wakefield , the literally saved my ass, and a big thumbs down to Kawasaki dealers, who being happy enough to take my cash were less than impressive in my hour of need............................... i dread to think what would have happened had it broke today or weds, id have had no chance of getting it fixed in time, just good luck that SPrint got recommended by the honda dealer....................... i never want to change a throttle cable ever again......................... |
