Default Route to Boxhill??

Anyone of you guys know a decent Route through to Boxhill off the A30/Pirbright area. I have tried quite a few times now and keep getting stuck in 30/40/50s in around Woking and Guildford??

Well myself, headed from north Guildford, I go along Salt Box Rd, over the Woking Road and through Jacobs Well on Clay Lane - over the A3 - passed the Burpham Sainsburys and the BP - under the railway - on passed Bushy Hill - across the roundabout and up Trodds Lane, which takes up just down from Newlands Corner, then along the A25 to Dorking and through to Box on the dual carriageway out of town.

Incidently - eyeball and 'exchange of nods' yesterday around midday on the sharp bend on Trodds Lane just at the bottom by the church - blue curvy.

No you want to go via Ripley.
Was out for a run with IAM guy from boxhill last night, some awesome roads from boxhill over Ranmore etc.
Sorry I wouldn't be able to stringit all together though. Not much help eh?
But Ripley then Ranmore Common is the key. I could show you on a map. too dificult using this.

Stu is that the one that comes from Ripley up Ripley lane - left on to Guildford rd - then a mile or so right on Green Dene, left onto a lane that leads onto Ranmoore Common road - through to Dorking. Nice tight little country lane with some big dippers - when it opens out at the common its nice.

I learnt that one with one of the guys on IAM as well - usualy pass that way when coming from Egham as its on route. But from Pirbright/A30 or a little more west of where I am??? its so Slow coming through Woking or Guildford I thought there maybe more sneaky lanes like this that peeps know of that can link it all.

I did some single lane tracks over Ranmore on my Bro's CBR400 the other week- great riding, if a little hairy with the steepness/twists and traffic!

I find the A25 is a lovely road to ride, if you don't get stuck in traffic. For much of it, the only opportunities to safely pass are on the straights- which is where all the oncoming traffic turns up!!

Annoyingly frustrating isnt it - was the same on the other one - is it the A246?

I'd agree with svDaveC for the most part. From Pirbright A322 south towards Guildford, left at roundabout onto Salt Box Road (Wave if you see me ), left at roundabout onto A320, then immediatly second right into Jacobswell (Clay Lane) Along there until you come to a BP station (2 roundabouts), left just after the BP garage (at the roundabout, New Inn Lane) Up to the A246, towards Dorking (This is where we differ) I'd follow the A246 all the way to the Green Dene turning that takes you up to Ranmore common.

Another way from Pirbright is to head to Foxes corner, left at the roundabout and then next right. Takes you across to the A320. However, not a bike fan of the 320, seen to many plod speed traps on weekends

I'll see if I can sort a map out if you want

Yeah, that's good too - I usually head back that way from Box - up the A24 then back to G'ford along the A246
