Question HOPP Rider Training - Cadwell Park

My SV650K3 and I will be circulating around Cadwell on the 10th July (for the first time together).

Ridden there many times: FZR400RR, TRX850, 748, SV650SK2, ER-5.

Do we have any HOPP veterans or potential dabblers about?

I've done the Hopp Rider days at Cadwell twice now, and they get a big thumbs up from me! What i particularly like about the set up are:

- it's at cadwell, which is a great circuit (as you've obvioulsy also discovered!)
- the morning is instruction which allows you to build up speed gradually, pick up some tips, and perfect your lines
- there's less testosterone than your average trackday, thus fewer accidents and a lot more track time
- you don't tend to get held up in traffic, since they sort you into subgroups according to ability and each session is sent out in speed order. This is particularly handy given that Cadwell is a fairly narrow circuit and in many places it can be hard to pass without cutting it a bit close
- you don't have to worry about dangerous overtakes putting you off/taking you out mid-corner, since there are rules on overtaking

The overall pace is a bit slower than at regular trackdays, so if you're more experienced there I'd probably plump for the advanced group. Oh and don't be fooled by the bikes on show (lots of BMWs/commuters/tourers and fewer sports bikes) - many of the riders are very experienced and I've seen big beefy tourers hustled round the track at some pretty impressive speeds!

All in all I've really enjoyed both sessions there and if it weren't for the fact that Cadwell is quite a way from where I live I'd happily book one of the Hopp Rider sessions every year.

Hope you have a great time BTW!!

It will be my 4th time in the HOPP advanced group, but the other 3 have been on my old ER-5. Long range weather forecast looks hopeful, and I'm seriously looking forward to it Cheers!
